Y'S Girls Mentoring
- Y’s Girls is a mentoring programme for vulnerable female-identifying young people between the ages of 9-14 in the Brighton & Hove area
- It supports young people struggling at school and/or home who may be at risk of developing mental health/emotional wellbeing difficulties by providing consistent mentoring support from a volunteer adult mentor over the course of 12 months
- Mentors provide young people with a positive role model, a listening ear and advice and guidance through once-weekly sessions where the young people can explore activities they like to do and try out new things
- Over the course of the mentoring process mentors help their mentees to set goals (big and small) and work on steps to achieve these goals, as well as developing self-confidence, resilience and self-efficacy
- Y’s Girls is an early and effective mentoring programme that aims to work with vulnerable girls to help them overcome challenges, achieve their full potential and develop positive life skills
