Hangleton and Knoll project
There are loads of projects and activities on offer for young people every day of the week and by also working in partnership with many different organisations they constantly put on some great sessions and projects. Here's a few:
- Hangleton & Knoll Youth Manifesto: This is an initiative, supported by the Hangleton & Knoll Project youth team, aimed at empowering young people in the community to have their voices heard regarding issues that affect them.
- Hangleton and Knoll Young Women's Group: This is a group that meets on a weekly basis at one of the local community centre and is for local young women aged 13-19yrs. The group currently has a membership of 22 young women- so sessions are busy but great fun! Young women have the opportunity to build new friendships, take part in activities that encourage learning around issues they have identified (previous themes have been body image and mental health) and have a safe space where they can be themselves, ask any questions and feel supported in the challenges they may be experiencing.
- Knoll Drop In: Knoll drop in takes part on a weekly basis at Knoll Pavilion; a small building in Knoll Park. This session is open to any young person aged 13-19 yrs old and is free. Activities include pool, cooking, quiz, art and sports. Young people help plan and deliver these sessions. We regularly have 15-30 young people who attend.
- Half Term / Summer holiday activities: Youth workers consult young people as to which activities and opportunities they would benefit from and like to plan. Previous activities have included an assault course, kayaking, mountain biking, community BBQs and picnics, sexual health drop-ins and trips to Thorpe Park.
